First there was over $4.00 per gallon gas, and an unreliable vehicle.

Then the Great Recession started, and gas prices plunged to under $2.00 and car dealerships were practically giving new vehicles away, so I bought a new car.

Now I have 260 hours of vacation time saved up, a good amount of money available, and the desire to explore America like it was meant to be done: on a road trip!

I’m just a 26 year old guy who is looking for some summer time adventures. I have a good job which affords me a good amount of vacation time. I usually take one or two vacations a year, but always a week max at a time. After awhile I have accumulated a large amount of vacation time which I have to use. And now is the time to use it.

I am leaving May 16, 2009 and plan to return home on-or-around June 21. This blog will chronicle the trip from planning it, through my return. It is meant to be a trip diary so I can remember where I went and what I did. I will be posting pictures and possibly other things of interest. Everyone is welcome to follow along as I complete this epic adventure.
